One-time NFL Star Antonio Brown Enters Not Guilty Plea in Attempted Murder Trial
Former NFL star Antonio Brown is heading to Miami to confront an attempted murder charge connected with a gunfire that occurred in May, as his attorney entering a innocent plea on his behalf.
Jail records in Essex, New Jersey, show that Brown was discharged on Tuesday morning for his transfer to Florida. Brown, among the most famous figures in the National Football League, had relinquished transfer to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was detained after being apprehended in the city of Dubai.
Brown’s counsel, Mark Eiglarsh, mentioned in an email that he has already filed a formal innocent declaration to the attempted murder allegation. Brown could be in a Miami courtroom as early as Wednesday early for a bond proceeding, Eiglarsh added.
According to his arrest warrant, Brown is alleged of seizing a firearm from a protection staffer after a public figure match contest in May and discharging a couple of shots at a man he had fought with before. The claimed victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, informed authorities that one shot touched his nape.
Eiglarsh said that Brown was only safeguarding himself from Nantambu.
“The actions he was obliged to take were exclusively in self-protection against the alleged victim’s hostile behavior. Brown was assaulted that time and responded within his rightful entitlement to defend himself,” Eiglarsh said.
Brown was not right away arrested because originally police did not recognize Nantambu as a affected party. It not until later in May that Nantambu provided a full account about the event to police and identified Brown as the shooter, the document indicates.
From his social media posts, Brown had been staying in the city of Dubai for a number of weeks. In a message after the incident, Brown said he was defending himself because he was “jumped by numerous persons who tried to steal my possessions and inflict bodily harm to me.”
A level two murder attempt allegation in Florida imposes a highest fifteen-year incarceration penalty and up to a ten thousand dollar fee in the instance of a conviction.
Brown has dealt with numerous court issues over the time. He before had been charged of assault of a delivery operator, several domestic violence accusations, neglect to pay child support and other occurrences.
Throughout a recent game with Tampa Bay against the opponents, Brown took off his jersey, protective gear and handwear and left the field, resulting in his dismissal by the team and effectively concluding his professional journey.
Brown, who completed twelve years in the NFL, was an All-Pro player who devoted most of his time with the Steelers. For his career, Brown had 928 catches for more than 12,291 gains, the 28th most of all time. He was a multiple-time Pro Bowl selection.
